The 8th Edition of India Sri Lanka bilateral joint Exercise Mitra Shakti will be organized at Combat Training School, Ampara in Sri Lanka from 4th October to 15th October 2021. As per reports, an all-arms contingent of 120 personnel of the Indian Army will take part in the exercise together with a battalion of the Sri Lankan Army.

The objective behind this exercise is to promote the close association between Armies of both countries. The exercise also looks forward to enhancing inter-operability and sharing best practices in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations.

The exercise will comprise tactical level operations at the sub-unit level in an international Counterinsurgency and counter-terrorism environment. It will also strengthen the relationship between both the South Asian Nations and will act as a catalyst in bringing synergy and cooperation at the grass root level among both Armies.

Previously in 2019, the 7th Edition of Exercise Mitra Shakti was carried out at Foreign Training Node (FTN), Pune, Maharashtra (India).
