The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of UP arrested two terrorists who were linked to Al Qaeda from the Kakori outskirts of Lucknow on Sunday. The two were reported to be hiding in one of the houses in the Kakori region.

After the ATS team received a tip-off about their presence, they had been looking for them for a week and were finally able to arrest them on Sunday.

A team was led by GK Goswami, who arrested the two from a house that belongs to Shahid. The house for the past 15 years had a tenant named Wasim and the house had a motor garage built in it.

Two pressure-cooker bombs, a detonator, and 6 to 7 kilograms of explosives have been recovered from the house. A bomb disposal squad was called to their hiding location and nearby houses have been evacuated.

The names of the arrested people have not yet been disclosed and further interrogation is under process. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the two of them planned to target a BJP MP and some senior BJP leaders in Lucknow.
