On Tuesday, a 45-year-old died, shortly after receiving the second dose of Covid19 vaccine in a hospital in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra’s Thane district, stated an official. The demised, Sukhdeo Kirdit, employed as the driver of a local doctor, took the shot at around 11 am. 

Immediately after a few minutes, Kirdit complained of dizziness while he was seated in the waiting hall at the Civic run inoculation Centre. As per an official, he was immediately taken to the nearby hospital, IGM, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. 

The reason for the death would be known only after the post-mortem report comes, stated Dr. KR Kharat Health Officer of the Bhiwandi Nizampura Municipal Corporation. Further, the health officer said the medical history of Kirdit is being checked. As a healthcare worker, Kirdit had taken the first shot of the vaccine on January 28.  The family members of Kirdit said he was a healthy person who had left home in the morning to take the second dose of the vaccine. 

From Monday 1 March, the Second Phase of the vaccination drive has started in India, and people above the age of 60 and those over 45 with other illnesses are being vaccinated. In the first phase of the vaccination drive, frontline and health workers received doses.
