Today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced that in the upcoming Bengal by-polls, advocate Priyanka Tibrewal will fight against TMC’s Mamata Banerjee for the Bhabanipur Assembly seat. Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, needs to ensure her win in the upcoming by-polls to keep her office. Earlier, the election commission announced that the polling will take place on September 30 and the result will be declared on October 4.
Advocate Tibrewal is known for the BJP’s victory against the West Bengal government during the post-poll violence PIL. A CBI probe was ordered by the Calcutta High court into various crimes like rape and murder during the post-poll violence in the state.
Priyanka has not only held several roles in BJP but has also been the party’s State Officer Bearer. Priyanka has pursued English Honors from the University of Delhi, the law from the University of Calcutta, and holds an MBA from Assumption University, located in Thailand.
Advocate Priyanka currently serves as an advocate in Calcutta High court and the supreme court of India and has always stood up for justice and liberty while handling various cases like defending victims of atrocities of State Government like the Purolia murder case.
In the recent post-poll violence incidents in West Bengal, Priyanka played a very important role as she took the matter to the Calcutta High court while seeking justice for Abhijeet Sarkar’s murder. For the post-poll violence probe in West Bengal, Priyanka has initiated CBI led investigation along with the constitution of a Special Investigation Team.
