Today, a Mumbai court has extended the suspended Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze’s NIA custody till 9th April as he was found to be related with the case of an explosives-laden SUV found near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and the death of the SUV owner, businessman Mansukh Hiran.
On 13th March, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Waze. On Wednesday, his custody was extended till 9th April after he was produced before special NIA court judge, P R Sitre. The extension of Waze’s custody was sought by the NIA for further investigation into the case.
The court ordered 14-day judicial custody for the other two accused of the case, cricket bookie, Naresh Gor and suspended police constable, Vinayak Shinde.
As its preliminary enquiry, CBI also got allowance from the court to question Waze regarding senior police officer Param Bir Singh’s allegations of corruption levelled against the former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
On 25th February, a explosives-laden Scorpio was found near the residence of Ambani in south Mumbai. The owner of the vehicle, Mansukh Hiran was found dead on 5th March in Thane’s Mumbra creek.
