On Monday, Amit Shah, the Union home minister, will conduct a meeting with the police chiefs of all states and union territories to focus on the overall security situation in India, together with policing, coordination, and law and order issues.

The meeting is scheduled to be around 2 pm and may continue till late evening as an overall assessment will be considered, informed sources familiar with the development. Besides, director generals of police (DGPs) of state/UT or their representatives, chiefs of central parliamentary forces and central intelligence agencies will also participate in the meeting.

Officials noted that attacks on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, terror activities in the valley and other parts of the country, and efforts by Pakistan-backed outfits to threaten peace will also be discussed.

Multiple non-locals have been gunned down in the last two weeks in Jammu and Kashmir by The Resistance Front (TRF), which is an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, raising a major worry for the security agencies. In the previous month, the Union home minister had carried out a review meeting with the chief ministers of states affected with Left Wing Extremism (LWE).
