Apple Inc will now step into the automobile industry after their phones, laptops, audio products. With its first self-driving ‘Apple Car’, Apple is planning to build their own automobile sector.
The ‘Apple Car’ is expected to launch in the market and hit the road in 2024. According to the reports, with a self battery technology, Apple could produce a passenger car and Apple already started working on its auto venture, named as Project Titan. However, the reports claimed that in 2014, Apple had started working on the project but it had been postponed in 2016 and many employees were laid off. But now they are starting fresh.
As per the report, the Apple car would be a passenger car. Sources claimed that in their car Apple would use a battery which will increase the range of the vehicle and “radically” reduce the battery cost. The report said, “As for the car’s battery, Apple plans to use a unique “mono cell” design that bulks up the individual cells in the battery and frees up space inside the battery pack, one of the people said. That design means more active material can be packed inside the battery, giving the car a potentially longer range.”
A Project Titan source said, “If there is one company on the planet that has the resources to do that, it’s probably Apple. But at the same time, it’s not a cellphone.” The technology used in the battery is “next level”. For “elements of the system”, Apple has plans to tie with outside partners. The LiDar sensors are planned to be used by the Cupertino. By this sensor, the cars would get a 3D view of the road.
Speaking about autonomous driving software of Apple, in 2017, CEO of Apple, Tim Cook said, “We’re focusing on autonomous systems. It’s a core technology that we view as very important. We sort of see it as the mother of all AI projects. It’s probably one of the most difficult AI projects actually to work on.”
