Over the Victoria Memorial incident, CM of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party. On the occasion of 125th birthday celebration of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, at Victoria Memorial, when Banerjee began to speak at the event, the BJP supporters chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Modi-Modi’. Regarding the incident, she said that the saffron party can insult her but she won’t tolerate the insult of West Bengal.
Banerjee called the BJP “fake” and asked the people of West Bengal to take the BJP offered cash but during the assembly elections, when they enter the polling booth, vote for Trinamool Congress. “BJP may pay you cash. If they do, take it but vote for TMC when you enter the booth. The BJP is a total fake fake fake. They can insult me fine, but I will not tolerate West Bengal’s insult. The BJP does not even respect BJP,” Mamata Banerjee said.
Mocking at Suvendu Adhikari, who joined the BJP leaving the TMC, Banerjee claimed that the greedy ones are joining the saffron party as she said, “Those who are lining up [to join BJP], I want to tell them, hurry up, leave [Trinamool]! They never got tickets [to contest polls] from TMC so they are leaving. The BJP has no other work than to create tandav (chaos).”
Over the incident that occurred in the Victoria Memorial, Banerjee expressed her exclamation by saying, “I went to a Netaji programme, but how dare they! Some fanatics were teasing me in front of the country’s prime minister. They don’t know me.” She further said that she would have saluted them if they had raised slogans on Netaji and noted that before this, the BJP had insulted Rabindranath Tagore.
