On Friday, Kapil Sibal said that in the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Centre might use the Afghanistan Crisis and the new Taliban regime as an advantage to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Congress leader posted a tweet and said that India did not play a major role in the ‘inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue.’ Furthermore, Sibal said that the central government’s policy towards the new Taliban regime will be based on how the situation can be used as an advantage in the upcoming UP assembly elections. The Congress leader added that this is the bitter truth, and the media is already playing its role.
No official response has been given by the BJP to Kapil Sibal’s remarks. The remarks came after TS Tirumurti, India’s permanent representative to the United Nations, reiterated India’s stance on the situation in Afghanistan.
Recently, the Congress party has been criticizing the government based on its policy on the Afghanistan situation while stating that the BJP-led government can negotiate with the Taliban in Doha, however, the government does not have time to come to a consensus with protesting farmers on the three farm laws. On the other hand, the government has been focusing on the welfare of the Afghan National in its approach towards the Afghanistan situation.
