On Monday, the trailer of Netflix’s upcoming drama ‘Bombay Begums’ starring Pooja Bhaat in the lead is out. The actress makes her comeback to acting after years. Pooja Bhatt is seen playing the role of a businesswoman. The movie also stars Shahana Goswami, Amruta Subhash, Plabita Borthakur, and Aadhya Anand. All five women are seen playing the role of different sections of society.
Amruta is seen playing the role of a bar dancer yearning for a life of respect. Shahana plays a woman hoping to climb the corporate ladder when an unexpected pregnancy throws a wrench into her plans. The lives of the five women are connected after a road accident and a scandal.
The series is written by none other than the boss lady Alankrita Shrivastava, who is known for films such as ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Dolly, Kitty aur Woh Chamakte Sitaare’. Talking about the show, Alankrita had earlier said the series is about Indian Women that she hopes women in India and across the continent will connect with.
Bombay Begums explores the complex journey of Indian women who are ambitious for success and power but have many more battles to deal with. The series showcases their daily hustle and their dreams sometimes buried and sometimes fulfilled.
