On May 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Rabindranath Tagore on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti. He expressed that Rabindranath Tagore continues to inspire millions of people in thoughts and actions. The Prime Minister also paid tributes to freedom fighters Gopal Krishna Gokhale and the brave Mewar King Maharana Pratap on their birth anniversaries.
Celebrating Rabindra Jayanti, PM Modi tweeted, “I bow to Gurudev Tagore on his Jayanti. In thought and action, he continues to inspire millions of people. He taught us to be proud of our nation, culture, and ethos. He emphasized education, learning, and social empowerment. We are committed to fulfilling his vision for India.” Born in 1861, Rabindranath Tagore is a poet, playwright, composer, philosopher, and short story writer. Tagore was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913.
Paying tributes to Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Narendra Modi said, “His contribution to the freedom struggle is unforgettable. His unwavering commitment to democratic principles and social empowerment keeps motivating us.” He added that Maharana Pratap, feted for his brave resistance to the Mughals, is synonymous with bravery and valor. The story of his courage and struggle will inspire people.
