The Brazilian footballer Robinho who also played in Real Madrid and AC Milan has been sentenced to nine years of imprisonment for involving in a gang-rape of an Albanian woman. The Milan Court also determined that the former footballer has ‘belittled’ and brutally humiliated the Albanian woman in Milan.
The incident took place in 2013 during the woman’s birthday celebration in a nightclub in Milan. Robinho who resides in Brazil was found guilty in 2017 and later sentenced in December, last year. Reportedly, Robinho denied the charges and opted for Appellate jurisdiction that too later found him guilty.
The Court of Appeal mentioned that Robinho and his representatives tried to deceive the investigation with their different accounts of fact. Richard Falco, Robinho`s friend and also one of the accused upheld the footballer`s conviction. The footballer though is unlikely to be imprisoned in Italy as he is currently residing in Brazil and the country does not hand over its citizens. The footballer got 45 days to submit a further notice under the appellate jurisdiction to the court.
