On Monday, the Chief Minister of West Bengal said that though she opposed the Left-Front politically, she did not want to see the party as zero. This came after the Left Front was wiped out in Bengal political scene in the current Bengal elections.
She asserted that it would have been good if they had won seats in Bengal rather than BJP. This indicated that the party preferred the Left-Front as an opposition in the state assembly. Mamata claimed that in favor of the BJP, Left-Front had sold themselves and became signboards.
Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is in her third term in the Bengal government as the party won 213 seats while BJP won 77 seats in the assembly 2021.
Left leaders claimed the party’s performance was a disaster. An anti-BJP vote was planned in Bengal that was consolidated around the TMC. Left leaders asserted that the focus was on the BJP and the TMC which offered Left-Front as the only alternative.
Manoj Bhattacharya from Revolutionary Socialist Party asserted it to be a mistake as one autocrat recorded his victory over another autocrat while the common people have considered BJP as the only option to oppose TMC.
The Congress congratulated Mamata Banerjee for her defeat to BJP. While Congress Party’s state president Adhir Chaudhary said that Hindus in Murshidabad and Malda voted for BJP and Muslims voted for TMC alleged it to be a purely communal campaign of Mamata Banerjee.
