  • On Friday, the central government affirmed that it will facilitate permanent commission options for all eligible women Army officers after the Supreme Court cautioned the forces of contempt

According to reports, the Centre further notified the apex court that it will make a decision within the next 10 days, concerning the 11 women officers in the Army who had approached the SC about a permanent commission.

An SC Bench, constituting Justice DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna, was hearing a petition lodged by the 11 officers who accused the Army of non-compliance with the apex court’s orders. The officers noted that the Army was refusing to give them permanent commission despite fulfilling the eligibility criteria as cited by the top court.

As per a publication’s report, the additional solicitor general of India, Sanjay Jain said the court’s orders will be duly executed and all the aggrieved women officers will be permitted permanent commission subject to limitations stated in the previous judgment.
