Chandrayaan-3 Schedules For Launch In August 2022: Dr. Jitendra Singh

On Thursday, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State Science & Technology; Minister of State Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space disclosed that Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled for launch in August 2022.

In a written response to a question in Lok Sabha yesterday, Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that considering the learnings from Chandrayaan-2 and suggestions given by the national level experts, the realization of Chandrayaan-3 is in progress. He added that several related hardware and their special tests are successfully completed and the unveiling is scheduled for August 2022.

The Minister further affirmed that there are almost 19 missions proposed during this year. The missions include 8 Launch Vehicle Missions, 7 Spacecraft Missions, and 4 Technology Demonstrator Missions. Notably, multiple ongoing missions were impacted owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Further, reprioritization of projects has occurred in the backdrop of Space Sector reforms and newly launched demand-driven models. EOS-03, Amazonia-1, Satish Dhawan SAT (SDSAT), and UNITYsat satellites were launched in the previous year. Three satellites namely, CMS-01, EOS-01, GSAT-30 were launched in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic slammed the country.
