On Friday, China blamed India for the Galwan Valley Clash that claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers along with four Chinese soldiers on 15 June 2020 and said that New Delhi had breached all border-related agreements between India and China and trespassed on Chinese territory.
India and China have been locked in a border dispute for 16 months. On 15 June 2020, troops from both sides fought in the Galwan Valley using iron rods and clubs covered with barbed wires, and as a result, twenty Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers lost their lives. Despite several diplomatic and military talks, the tension between India and China has not yet been fully resolved.
India has denied China’s accusations of the Indian troops crossing towards the Chinese side of the LAC in eastern Ladakh, and India stated that a responsible approach towards border management and maintaining peace, tranquility in the border areas have always been adopted by New Delhi. However, China has continued to blame India for the incident.
Zhao Lijian, the spokesperson of China’s foreign ministry, was asked about the reorganization of the Indian military into theatre commands and its impact on the Sino-India border management, to which Lijian replied that an important role was played by all agreements and treaties signed between India and China on upholding the peace and stability in the area of the LAC.
Furthermore, Lijian said that the Galwan Valley incident took place last year because India breached all the agreements and treaties between them and trespassed on the Chinese territory after illegally crossing the line (LAC). The spokesperson added that they hope India will follow all the signed agreements between them and uphold peace stability in the border region with concrete actions.
