CID named 218 new accused in the Palghar lynching case and had arrested 50. Reportedly, all the arrested will be produced before the Dahanu court, said their lawyer Amrut Adhikari. The total arrested in the case now stands at 376, and it was said that out of which 11 are minors. CID did not mention the 28 accused and 9 minors in the charge sheet for their involvement and hence accepted their bail was sought.
On the other hand, a Special session conducted by Judge PP Jadhav at Thane will have the hearing of bail of the 62 accused in the case. The devastating killing of Kalpvrush Giri, Sushil Giri, and driver Nilesh Telgade, in April has outraged national rage among people. They were thrashed by huge mobs in Gadhchinchale village.
The incident aroused more suspicion when the former superintendent of police (SP), Palghar, Gaurav Singh, was sent on compulsory leave by the state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. There was no dereliction of duty that was found from Singh’s side said the state government to SC over handing the case to the central agency.
