Today, Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi took a fresh jibe over the mismanagement of COVID-19 by the Centre. Commenting on this regard, he suggested that a ‘complete lockdown’ is the only way to curb the situation in India.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Gandhi claimed that the Centre should be directly blamed for the mismanagement of COVID-19. “Government of India’s inaction is killing many people,” he wrote. He further mentioned that the nation should be under complete lockdown and the vulnerable society should be protected by the ‘Nyuntam Aay Yojana’ or NYAY scheme which was introduced by the National Congress.
The scheme outlines Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme’ (MIGS) or NYAY, to five crore ‘poorest families ’ covering 25 crore people by assuring them a guaranteeing minimum income of ₹6,000 per month or ₹72,000 a year.
For the last few weeks, Congress has been accusing the Modi-led government of its failure to curb the COVID-19 in India. Presently, the nation is grappling with the surging COVID-19 cases and is reporting over 4 lakh cases daily with more than 3,000 deaths.
As a consequence of the surging figures, there has been a crisis of oxygen supply, vaccine, and other COVID-19 relief. Several leaders across the globe have stepped forward to assist India in fighting against the global pandemic.
