On Friday, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla equated the Constitution with the Gita on the inauguration of the Constitution Day, which took place in the Central Hall of Parliament. Birla has stated, “If each one of us commits to working for the country, then we can build ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’”. The Constitution Day celebrates the formation of the book which forms the fundamental code of conduct for the country. The event witnessed the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind, vice president M Venkaiah Naidu and PM Modi.
On the celebratory occasion of Constitution Day, President Kovind addressed the nation from the Central Hall of Parliament. He was joined by others who read the Preamble of the Constitution. The PMO release has stated that the president is scheduled to release a digital version of the Constituent Assembly Debates after his address.
PM Modi has hailed the Constitution Day as an honour to the Parliament, which housed the assembly of political leaders from all sections who contributed to the Constitution. Modi said, “Our Constitution is not just a collection of many articles, it is the great tradition of millennia. The unbroken stream is the modern expression of that section.” He further stated, “It was drafted after many hindrances and united the princely states in the country.”
On the same day, the Prime Minister will inaugurate another event at the plenary hall of New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan. The event organized by the Supreme Court (SC) of India will include all concerned authorities including all judges and chief justices of SC and HC. The celebration of Constitution Day comes as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
