On Tuesday, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan stated that the pandemic situation was worrisome globally and India could not show laxity despite witnessing a decline in cases. He further noted that the inclined graph of the infection is climbing in the US, Brazil, Russia, UK and South Africa.
He said that these countries had much less population compared to India and India’s active cases are declining steadily which remained below the 2.2 lakh mark. He also noted that only Maharashtra and Kerala saw over 50K active cases. The Union health secretary with regard to vaccine needs of the nation said that the Centre had been proactive and pre-emptive. He further said that a task force was set up mid of the previous year to analyze indigenous research and development in vaccines, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.
Bhushan ahead of the nationwide vaccination roll-out highlighted that the Centre was working tremendously for the preparedness in close collaboration with all states and Union Territories (UTs). He added that healthcare services and However, there would be no compromise on existing healthcare services scientific and regulatory norms will not be compromised during the vaccine drive.
