On Sunday, police stated that a 21-year young climate activist from Bengaluru has been arrested for sharing the “toolkit” related to the farmer’s protest on social media. On Saturday, Disha Ravi was arrested by the Cyber Cell team of the Delhi Police, said a senior police officer.
Earlier, Google and few social media giants had been asked by the Delhi Police to provide details about email ids, URLs, and few social media accounts related to the creators of the “toolkit” shared by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and others on Twitter in relation with the protest by Farmers. The Cyber Cell had lodged an FIR against “pro-Khalistan” creators of the “toolkit” for waging a “social, cultural and economic war against the Government of India”.
The Police mentioned that the case against unnamed people was registered on grounds of criminal conspiracy, sedition, and several other sections of the Indian Penal Code. A senior Delhi officer while addressing a press conference said the initial investigation linked the document with a pro-Khalistan group called “Poetic Justice Foundation”.
As per police, the “toolkit” has a particular section that mentions “digital strike-through hashtags on or before January 26, tweetstorms on January 23 onwards, physical action on January 26 and watch-out or join farmers march into Delhi and back to borders”. The police added that the “toolkit” was aimed at spreading ill-will and disaffection against the Indian Government and creating disharmony among several social, cultural, and religious groups.
