On Thursday, BJP’s IT cell president, Amit Malviya, raised a question on whether TMC MP Nusrat Jahan had lied to the Parliament when she took the oath as Nusrat Jahan Ruhi Jain. The question came in after a day when Nusrat Jahan issued a statement and cleared up her marital status with Nikhil Jain citing its reason.
Malviya shared a clip of Nusrat taking the oath and said that her personal life should not be anyone’s concern. But he raised doubt on whether she is elected representative and is married to Nikhil Jain, as mentioned in the record of the Parliament.
Nusrat Jahan, on Wednesday, said that her marriage was never legal, valid, and tenable in India. Her marriage ceremony took place in Turkey in 2019, and they did it as per Turkish Marriage Regulation.
Since it was an inter-faith marriage, it requires validation under the Special Marriage Act in India, which never happened. This was the reason she explained why the divorce from Nikhil Jain was not necessary.
She further explained that it was a relationship or a live-in relationship, and now they have been separated long ago. She has also accused Nikhil Jain, saying that he withdrew money from her bank accounts by illegal means even after separation.
Nikhil has not yet uttered anything on these allegations and said that the matter is now subjudice. However, he claimed that he has already moved the court for the annulment of the marriage.
