EAM Dr S Jaishankar on Tuesday held a meeting with UK Home Secretary Priti Patel. Dr Jaishankar said that deliberations over the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement were made. This agreement would facilitate legal travel and encourage talent flows.

“A fruitful meeting this morning with Home Secretary @pritipatel. Signed the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement that would facilitate legal travel and encourage talent flows. The living bridge between India and U.K. will get stronger as a result,” his tweet read.

Dr Jaishankar has expressed his hope that this agreement would help strengthen India’s and UK’s bilateral connections and is an important outcome for the India-U.K. Virtual Summit that was held today.

The India-UK Virtual Summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British Prime Minister Boris Johnson which was held today had adopted the ‘Roadmap 2030’ that aims to convert India and UK’s bilateral ties into a strategic relationship.

Issues such as ‘Enhanced Trade Partnership’ which began last year have been discussed at lengths and further details of the matter are awaited.
