NEW DELHI: Professor Yogesh Tyagi, the vice-chancellor of DU has been suspended with an immediate effect by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, stated the education ministry. President ordered an investigation into allegations of dereliction of duties against him.
The tussle came amid the heated of two sections in the university over recent decisions on crucial appointments be taken by the VC and their compliance with varsity norms.The ministry of education further stated that he ‘failed to discharge duties’ and responsibilities he was trusted with, while having crowned with power. Professor Yogesh Tyagi’s suspension has been issued by the ministry of Education in an official statement describing every grounds to the issue.
The ministry further stated that all the decision taken by the professor during his leave of absence will be treated as null and void. The statement further mentioned that the pro vice chancellor will be the acting vice chancellor for the time being for the smooth functioning of all the roles and responsibilities.
