NEW DELHI: Today, the 2020 Afghanistan Conference was conducted in Geneva. It was attended by Dr S Jaishankar the External Affairs Minister, and the Afghani FM Mohammed Haneef Atmar.
Both the ministers discussed a wide range of bilateral issues including bilateral development cooperation between New Delhi and Kabul.
The ministerial-level talks came days after the Afghan government and the Taliban announced that they have agreed on the framework rules for peace talks.
This development comes nearly after two months of discussions, which has ended a nearly 20-year civil war. Taking to social media account, Dr. S Jaishankar praised the bilateral talks with Mohammed Haneef Atmar. He mentioned that he appreciated the update on the peace process. “Agreed to remain in closed touch,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Haneef Atmar thanked the Indian government and the people for their support. “We highly appreciate our friendship and growing bilateral relations,” he added.
