New Delhi: After IPL chief has confirmed that this year league will start in September. Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) confirms that the Board has received the official letter of Intent from the board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Mubashshir Usmani, Emirates Cricket Board Secretary-General informs through the official statement “We have received the official letter and now wait on the decision from the Indian Government which will ink the final deal. Following all the protocols officials now need to bring in the experts to discuss all aspects of UAE hosting the IPL and this includes the Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah Sports Councils, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah Tourism Bodies and the respective Government entities – such as the Police Forces and the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.
Moreover, at the moment firstly the official will be discussed in the upcoming IPL Governing Council meeting that the set up of training camp for players and discussion over the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is among the topics. This year’s IPL was scheduled to commence from March 29 but the tournament was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
