BENGALURU: A firing incident is been reported from Bengaluru. Three persons were killed and many others were wounded as unrest broke out in east Bengaluru and police opened fire, blast tear-gas shells and lathi-charged crowds that barrage of KG Halli and DJ Halli police stations, the whole incident took place on Tuesday night.
According to sources, as mob commenced gathering outside a Congress MLA’s house in Bangalore late yesterday, after which the mob started vandalizing the MLA’s residence. Seeing the situation started to get out of control, after which the police opened fire to control the crowd and in which three people were shot dead.
Police sources said that the accused, who described himself as a relative of the MLA, allegedly shared a post on social media, which provoked people from a community. The MLA appealed to the community members not to commit violence. He said in the video message, ‘I appeal to the Muslim brothers that due to the mistakes of some miscreants, we should not indulge in violence. There is no need to fight. We are all brothers. We will punish the culprits according to the law. We are also with you. I appeal to my Muslim friends to maintain peace.’
Police said that a large number of people gathered near the residence of MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy and attacked and damaged the vehicles parked there. After this, the mob targeted the police station thinking that the police has kept the accused in custody there. Eyewitnesses said that the vehicles of police teams trying to stop the violence were also damaged by the mob.
