Today, an FIR has been lodged against the Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut for allegedly portraying the farmers’ protest as the Khalistani movement. She has been accused of calling the farmers ‘Khalistanis’.

In a social media post, the actress has used derogatory language against the Sikh community. According to sources, the FIR was filed at the suburban Khar police station a day after the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) submitted a complaint against the actor. Ranaut has been booked under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Talking to the media, the officials informed that further investigation was underway. The
complainant, Amarjeet Singh Sandhu, a Mumbai-based businessman was part of a
DSGMC delegation submitted the complaint on Monday. As per the statement, Sandhu accused Kangana Ranaut of making derogatory remarks against his community in a post on Instagram.

Furthermore, after submitting the complaint,
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader demanded action against Kangana. In the complaint, the DSGMC mentioned that Kangana had intentionally and deliberately portrayed the farmers’ protest (Kisan Morcha) as a ‘Khalistani’ movement.
