A State Health Official stated that the first consignment of 23,500 doses of ‘Covishield’ vaccine reached from Mumbai to Goa on Wednesday morning. The vaccine doses were transported to the coastal State via Flight.
Director of Goa Health Jose D’Sa said that two boxes containing Covid-19 vaccine were received in the morning. The Goa Airport Authorities in a tweet said that the first lot of Covid19 vaccine has reached today at 0622 hours. The two boxes received were cleared expeditiously by TEAM GOA and handed over to Health Services Officials.
Goa is all set for the immunization programme that will begin from January 16. Another official said that in the initial Phase, around 18,000 health workers in the state will be covered.
Earlier, an Official said that in Goa, eight hospitals have been identified including three private medical facilities where these doses would be administered. On Tuesday, Goa’s Covid19 tally reached 51,983 after more 92 people tested positive for the epidemic. So far, the Coastal State reported 749 deaths due to the disease, as per official figures.
