Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the beneficiaries and stakeholders of the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa’ program. At the event, PM Modi appreciated the developmental works of Goa and stated that the state has developed its new meaning of ‘developmental model and reflection of collective efforts’.

Under this program, a state government officer is appointed as ‘Swayampurna Mitra’ who ensures that various government schemes and benefits are available to eligible beneficiaries. “Pramod Ji and his team have made Swayampurna Goa project the base for Goa’s development,” he added.

Addressing the media, PM Modi lauded Goa for achieving 100 percent first vaccine dose. He mentioned that the central government schemes for women are being successfully implemented on the ground level in Goa, which is also being expanded. “Goa achieved 100 percent target in providing free ration to the poor and needy,” he added.

Besides Goa is a place of tourism, PM Modi added that it is a new ‘model for growth’. Despite the global pandemic and the multiple cyclones, Goa managed to overcome these difficulties. He added that Goa has both agricultural land and opportunities in the blue economy.

PM Modi cited that the infrastructure being developed in Goa will help the incomes of the farmers, cattle husbanders, and fishermen. Reportedly, the budget allocated to modernize rural infrastructure in Goa has been hiked by 5 times. The Central govt has allotted Rs. 500 crore for rural infrastructure in Goa.

India had set a target of connecting every household with electricity. Under Har Ghar Jal Mission, Goa became the first state to achieve the feat, he added. Lastly, he informed that the production of fruits-vegetables in Goa has seen a 40 percent growth and milk production has witnessed a 20 percent growth.
