According to data from the Union ministry of health and family welfares, India registered 42,015 new cases of coronavirus infections on Wednesday, bringing the total to 31,216,337.
In the past 24 hours, the country has seen 3,998 additional fatalities. According to government figures, a total of 418,480 individuals have died as a result of the pandemic so far.
Based on the statistics updated at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the country’s recovery rate was 97.37 percent, with 36,977 persons cured of the coronavirus illness in the previous 24 hours.
The government blamed the second wave on the lessening of lockdown mixed with pandemic weariness, a lack of community commitment to Covid proper behavior, and the development and dissemination of more transmissible strains of SARS-CoV-2 viruses during the present monsoon session of Parliament.
