On Tuesday, India attacked Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), accusing the country of swiping the Kashmir botch. India has also asked the country to be swift in terms of vacating all areas of Jammu and Kashmir which it has occupied illegally. The counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to UN, Kajal Bhat has claimed that Pakistan has unethically used the UN platforms to spread fake stories on Kashmir and also said that the country has been a safe haven for terrorists, who enjoy a free pass.
Bhat has said, “I would like to be categorical about India’s position, the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India. This includes the areas that are under the illegal occupation of Pakistan. We call upon Pakistan to immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation.”
India’s attacks on Pakistan come ahead of the neighbouring country raising the Kashmir issue in the 15-nation platform. It was during the ongoing debate on ‘Maintenance of International Peace and security Through Preventive Diplomacy’ that Kajal held the link of Pakistan ambassador Munir Akram’s comments on Jammu and Kashmir and attacked it.
Bhat has stated, “This is not the first time the representative of Pakistan has misused platforms provided by the UN to propagate false and malicious propaganda against my country and seeking in vain to divert the world’s attention from the sad state of his country where terrorists enjoy a free pass while the lives of ordinary people, especially those belonging to the minority communities are turned upside down.”
Bhat has conveyed that India will be firm in its stand on cross-border terrorism sourcing from Pakistan. However, she has also given calls for open dialogues only in a violence and terrorism free atmosphere. The Indian counsellor has taken a jab on Pakistan by saying that it has been historically funding and aiding terrorists.
