On Sunday 28th November, about 8,309 new Covid-19 cases were reported along with 236 fatalities. This brought the number of active Covid-19 cases to 1,03,859, which is the lowest in more than a year. As per the data of the Health Ministry, the total number of death to date is counted to 4,68,790.
Moreover, the recovery rate is quite high throughout the country. About 9,905 people were recovered in the last 24 hours. With this, the national recovery rate is 98.34 percent, which is the highest since March 2020.
However, despite the falling numbers, there is a growing concern about the new Omicron variant. The government has issued fresh guidelines to international travelers from ‘high risk’ countries including South Africa, all European countries, and Brazil. It has mandated a Covid -19 test on arrival and a 7-day home quarantine upon a negative report and a retest on the 8th day.
