Today, India crossed the benchmark of administering over 8.70 crores of vaccine doses which made India the fastest vaccinating country across the globe. Speaking on the achievement, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has mentioned that India has also exceeded the United States on this matter. “With an average daily rate of 3,093,861 COVID-19 vaccine doses, the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 8.70 crores,” it added.
According to the data, more than 33 lakh vaccination doses have been administered in the period between Tuesday and Wednesday. The figure mentioned includes 89,63,724 Health care workers who have received the first dose and 97,36,629 the second dose. Speaking of the Frontline workers, 97,36,629 of them have received the first dose and 43,12,826 the second dose. Coming next to the beneficiaries, aged between 45-60 years, 2,18,60,709 have received the first dose, and 4,31,933 the second.
Despite the vaccination program, the country has witnessed an upward trajectory in the number of fresh COVID-19 cases. As per the daily cases, Maharashtra tops the list with 55,469 cases, followed by Chhattisgarh with 9,921 cases, and Karnataka with 6,150 cases. Currently, the active caseload of India stands at 8,43,473.
