India: Nearly 3 Cr Children Between 12-14 Years Administered With COVID-19 Vaccines

On Tuesday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reported that more than three crore children in the age group of 12-14 years have been inoculated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccination for children under the age group 12-14 age group commenced on March 16 with Biological E’s intramuscular vaccine Corbevax, given to the beneficiaries after an interval of 28 days.

Taking to Twitter, Mansukh Mandaviya wrote, “Children are making a significant contribution to the vaccination campaign! Over 3 crore youngsters between 12- 14 age group have received 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Congratulations to all my young friends who got vaccinated.” India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage surpassed 190.48 crores on Monday.

As yet, 3,06,69,820 children between the 12-14 age group have been inoculated with the first dose of the vaccine and nearly 1,02,00272 have received the second dose. Between the 15-18 years age group, 5,87,70,428 first doses of vaccine have been inoculated, and 4,33,08,651 the second doses. The countrywide vaccination drive commenced on January 16 last year with the healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase.
