Today, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that India in the last 24 hours reported 2,71,202 fresh COVID-19 cases pushing the active caseload to 15,50,377. The figures comprised 4.81 percent of the total infections. Coming to the fatality, nearly, 314 succumbed to the deadly virus taking the death toll to 4,86,066.
As per the data, the daily positivity rate currently stood at 16.28 percent which is marginally less than Saturday. On Saturday, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 16.66 percent. On the other hand, the weekly positivity rate stood at 13.69 percent. Almost 1,38,331 patients recovered from the deadly disease.
The highly contagious Omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the nation. Nearly, 7,743 Omicron cases have so far been detected in the country with 1,702 new cases recorded yesterday.
Meanwhile, 16,65,404 tests were conducted yesterday. Till now, a cumulative of 70,24,48,838 tests have been conducted in the nation. India has so far, administered 156.76 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Over 66 lakh vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours.
