On Sunday, at a meeting in Niger, for making factually incorrect and unwarranted references to Jammu and Kashmir in resolutions adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is a grouping of Muslim majority nations, was highly rejected by India and declared that J&K is an essential and non-negotiable part of the country.
The OIC was suggested by India in a powerful statement, in future they should hold back from making such references and said in a clear reference to Pakistan, that it is unfortunate how the grouping is allowing itself to be used by a certain country “which has an abominable record on religious tolerance, radicalism and persecution of minorities”.
On 27-29 November, at Niamey in Niger, in the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the OIC’s meeting, India’s policies on J&K were referred to by them. Regarding this matter, the MEA stated, “We strongly and categorically reject the factually incorrect, gratuitous and unwarranted references to India in resolutions adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) at the 47th CFM Session in Niamey.”
It added, “We have always maintained that OIC has no locus standi in matters strictly internal to India including that of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral and inalienable part of India.” The MEA further stated, “It is regrettable that OIC continues to allow itself to be used by a certain country, which has an abominable record on religious tolerance, radicalism and persecution of minorities, to indulge in anti-India propaganda.”
