- The total number of coronavirus positive cases in India rose to 20,482 by Wednesday with 652 deaths.

The nationwide tally of confirmed infectious disease over 20,000 reported from various states and the death toll crosses 600. The recovery rate has improved to 17.5%. Whereas the attacks on healthcare personnel fighting coronavirus are prevalent in the country. The Union Cabinet approved an ordinance making acts of violence, against them as non-bailable offences. Maharashtra is at the top of the list having 5,218 positive cases and 251 death cases. Gujarat is in number second 2272 positive cases and 95 deaths.
The proposed ordinance against the act of violence carries imprisonment for 6 months to 7 years and also provides compensation for injury to healthcare service personnel or for causing damage or loss to property. It is announced that on the issue of containing the virus more efficiently Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with Chief Ministers of all the states via video call on 27th April.
In the last 24 hours recorded 1,486 positive cases and 49 deaths. Reportedly, 170 districts all over the nation with states- Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telengana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal are having critical containment zones which are being sealed.
