India Test Fires Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo, Marks Successful Results


• India has successfully test-fired long-range SMART on the cost off Balasore in Odisha
• The DRDO and the Indian Navy has successfully tested the missile from Balasore

On Monday, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested long-range Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo (SMART) that was carried out off the coast of Balasore in Odisha.

DRDO has released a statement in which it stated that the system has been designed to enhance anti-submarine warfare ability far beyond the conventional range of the torpedo. Recently, India has developed an indigenously and flight-tested SANT Missile in Pokhran on Saturday.

Many personalities have taken to congratulate the country and the DRDO for this big achievement. The defence ministry stated that the flight-testing carried out by DRDO and the Indian Air force was “successful” in meeting all the missions objective of the missiles. The weapon developed for the IAF can neutralize targets in the range of 10 kilometres it sends.
