The Government of India blocks 43 Chinese applications more for use in India. The apps include MangoTV, AliSuppliers Mobile App, Alibaba Workbench, WeTV – TV version, WeTV – Cdrama, Kdrama&More, WeTV Lite are among the apps banned in India. The blocked list also has a number of dating apps including We Date, Singol, TrulyChinese, TrulyAsian, ChinaLove, DateMyAge, AsianDate, FlirtWish, Guys Only Dating, Rela, and more.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said in a statement Tuesday that the action to ban the apps has been taken under section 69A of the Information and Technology Act based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities prejudicial to India’s sovereignty, integrity, defence, security, and public order. The Ministry said the decision to block apps has been taken based on reports received from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Back in July 2020, had banned several Chinese Applications due to the border tension with China. Popular Chinese apps TikTok, Shareit, Helo, Shein, Likee, WeChat, UC Browser was also banned. In the month of June, as many as 20 Soldiers from India were martyred in a fierce clash with the Chinese soldiers in Ladakh Galwan Valley.
