The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday informed that India is witnessing a declining daily case of positive covid-19 rates. Rajesh Bhusan, the Secretary of Health Ministry informed that the cumulative positive rate has come down to 5.19% and it is declining not just on a daily but weekly and monthly basis.

Bhusan also noted that India’s vaccination drive has successfully inoculated 1.17 crore people among which 1.04 Crore people have received the first shot and 12.61 lakh people have received the second shot as well. Currently, the active cases are less than 1.50 lakh and the death toll is below 100, stated Bhusan.

The Health Ministry also informed that two states- Kerala and Maharashtra are still facing challenges in controlling the daily cases and have 75% of the active cases. Kerala has 98% of the total active cases and Maharashtra has 37% of the total active cases. Bhusan added that 194 people in India are affected by three new variants of Covid-19 originating from South Africa, Brazil, and the UK. In Maharasthra new N440 K variant and E484 K variant have been reported.
