It is only March of 2021 and the country is witnessing a heatwave. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that between April and June, India’s most parts will experience maximum temperatures above normal. IMD issued a bunch of warnings on this.
Scientists said that India’s very large areas of east, central and northwest were recorded the heatwave, which is quite early this year. Generally, heatwaves have emerged in April over the past ten years and before that they used to occur in May.
But this year, mainly because of lack of rainfall, very dry air gets heated quickly and that leads to clear skies and due to direct sunshine the temperatures get high.
However, in 2 to 3 days, the condition is expected to abate due to strong westerly winds. During the next few days, maximum temperatures are expected to fall by 2-4°C in India’s most northwest and central parts.
