On Friday, Vijayveer Sidhu of India settled for the silver medal in the ISSF World Cup’s men’s 25m rapid fire pistol final behind Peeter Olesk of Estonia.
At the end of the 40-shot final, both were tied for the top spot with 26 hits each. In the shoot-off, Vijayveer scored 4 out of 5 hits in the 8th, and in the final series, he managed just one.
After a consistent showing through the finals, Olesk got four hits to win the top prize without any pressure. Anish Bhanwala and Gurpreet Singh were other Indian shooters who occupied the 5th and 6th places while Oskar Miliwek of Poland bagged the bronze.
Gurpreet was the best-placed Indian in Qualification 2 at 3rd place with a total of 581, in the 1st stage he shot 290 while in the 2nd stage he shot 291. Anish scored a total of 579 and grabbed 5th place. Sidhu qualified for the slot with an aggregate of 579 over the two stages.
Marko Carrillo of Peru topped the final with 582 followed by Estonia’s Peeter Olesk. Miliwek was in 4th place.
