J&K: 2 Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorists Gunned Down In Encounter In Bandipora District

On Friday, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists who had recently infiltrated Kashmir were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Bandipora district, as per the police. A police official affirmed that the security forces initiated a cordon-and-search operation in Brar in the Aragam area of Bandipora in north Kashmir after inputs about the presence of terrorists there.

The police official added that the search operation evolved into an encounter after the hiding terrorist fired upon security forces personnel, who retaliated. In the ensuing exchange of fire, two terrorists were shot down. The official asserted that the identity of the slain terrorist was being ascertained.

Earlier on Friday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Kashmir Vijay Kumar affirmed that the two terrorists trapped in Brar were Pakistani and belonged to LeT. The terrorist infiltrated Jammu and Kashmir recently and had managed to escape during an encounter in the Salinder forest area on Wednesday. The IGP added that the terrorist was tracked down and was trapped in Brar in Bandipora on Friday.
