On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Srinagar for a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). He is also scheduled to chair security review meetings, address panchayat members as well as political workers amid rising civilian attacks.

Ever since the nullification of the Constitution’s Article 370 in August 2019 to strip the region of its semi-autonomous status, this will be Shah’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The violence in the Valley, has forced several migrant workers to leave the Kashmir Valley. Talking to the media about Shah’s arrival, BJP leader of Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Sharma cited that Shah will arrive in Srinagar and then travel to Jammu.

Meanwhile, the security has been tightened in the Valley, and the security forces have enhanced checking especially in Srinagar. Reportedly, Shah is also visiting the Valley as a part of the Centre’s continuing outreach campaign. Sources claimed that he will be reviewing the implementation of development schemes.

Last month, Amit Shah conducted a review meeting on J&K with lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha and senior security officials.
