Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai regarding the flood situation in the state as well as in the capital, Bengaluru. The conversation comes a day after, several images and videos of the flood in Bengaluru went viral.

Taking to Twitter, CM Bommai informed about the telephonic call. Sources mentioned that PM Modi asked CM Bommai about the flood situation in the state. PM Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives and deep concern over the crop damages and assured to provide all the possible support to the State from the Centre.

Several parts of the state have been highly affected due to the heavy rainfall. Reportedly, an apartment complex, Kendriya Vihar with 600 homes and over 1,600 people, was deeply impacted by heavy downpours. As a consequence, the residents move to other locations. Meanwhile, in Yelahanka, the water rose to over four feet, disrupting normal life. Tractors and large SUVs were deployed to move people out of the locality.

Earlier today, CM Bommai visited the affected area. All the authorities have been instructed to tackle the situation. The CM also visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) where waterlogging damaged research equipment.
