On Wednesday, Kolkata’s Bagbazar locality was grabbed by a drastic fire that eventually had broken down in the slum area. A senior official said that as soon as the fire was reported, nearly 20 fire tenders rushed to the spot to curb the spread of the flame. He also added that the fire broke out at the peak of rush hours which led to major traffic in the area.
Several houses in the slum on Kshirode Vidyavinode Avenue beside the Bagbazar Women’s College near Chitpore Lock Gate Bridge is seriously engulfed in the blaze, reports claimed. Locals, as well as the police in the particular area, suspect the reason for the blast to be of gas cylinders from the slum area.
Reportedly, there was no casualty reported. However, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said that still, the reason for the fire is unknown. He added that the fire-fighters are engaging all their efforts to extinguish the fire as soon as possible.
