Today, the CoWin dashboard announced that Mumbai has achieved 100 percent first dose coverage. According to the data, the city’s target adult population is 92,36,546, and by noon on Saturday, 92,39,902 first dose has been administered in the city. The target has been achieved nearly after ten months of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination program.

Commenting on the second dose coverage, Mumbai stood at 59,83,452. The figure represents nearly, 65 percent of the city’s adult population. Talking to the media, the Additional Municipal Commissioner, Suresh Kakani mentioned that decentralizing the vaccination centers played a crucial role in their vaccine coverage.

Meanwhile, the civil officials claimed that they aim to achieve coverage beyond 100 percent as many people from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region have taken the vaccine jabs in Mumbai. Dr. Om Srivastava, an expert, and member of Maharashtra’s Covid-19 task force termed the news as ‘great news’ for the city.

The first phase of COVID-19 vaccination for healthcare workers in Mumbai was launched on January 16. Gradually, the city increased the number of vaccinations centres, while battling many instances of supply shortage.
