Today, the Mumbai police have informed that the case registered against actor Gehana Vasisth and three producers of the Viaan Industries has been handed over to the Property Cell of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch. The Viaan Industries is a company owned by Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra. The case was registered at Malvani Police Station.
This year in February, the property cell had lodged a case in connection with the adult film racket, after it raided a bungalow at Madh Island near Mumbai and arrested five people engaged in shooting adult content. Moreover, Gehana Vashisht alias Vandana Tiwari who is presently released on bail was earlier arrested in February 2021 in the pornography case.
While investigating the case, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch found a hidden cupboard in Raj’s Viaan and JL Stream office in Mumbai’s Andheri. Presently, Raj is in 14-day judicial custody, following his arrest last week for his alleged involvement in the adult film racket.
On Tuesday, the Mumbai Crime Branch had informed that Shilpa Shetty has not yet been given a clean chit in the pornography racket case where her husband is the prime accused. According to officials, forensic auditors have been appointed to probe the transactions in all the accounts of the people involved in the case.
On Wednesday, market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) slapped a penalty of Rs. 3 lakh on Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, and his firm on charges of flouting its insider trading rules. The Mumbai Police has charged Kundra under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Meanwhile, the officials have also mentioned that actor Sherlyn Chopra has been called to provide a statement as a witness in the case. Kundra earned more than Rs. 1.17 crore from the subscribers of the Hotshots app on Apple’s App Store between August and December 2020. Hotshots mobile app was developed for streaming adult and pornographic content that Kundra’s firm produced.
