Nawazuddin Siddiqui was nominated at the International Emmy Awards in the Best Actor category. The actor though didn’t win the award that he expressed his feelings towards it through a poem. The actor shared the poem in a recent Instagram post and hinted at his loss. The award function was held last week in New York.

An excerpt from the poem read, “Phoolein mein phool, phool hai gulaab, New York toh chale gaye, bann na paye nawab. Koshish jaari rahegi, adaab,” Nawaz’s words which were written in Hindi translates to,(the best in flowers is the rose/ Reached New York, but couldn’t be the king, will keep trying). His another post read, In another post, Nawazuddin added: “The sun rises in the east and sets in the west… Do whatever you want to, but be the best.”

Nawazuddin who attended the award ceremony in person was nominated in the Best Actor category in the Netflix film Serious Men. The award was won by David Tenant for his performance in the drama series Des.

The actor in an interview spoke about his opinion on OTT content and how content released on these platforms is in competition with big screen cinemas. He said that there has been a lot of demand for OTT content in the last few years. People watched OTT content even when the cinema was fully functional. He added that quality content is always more preferable over the type of platform.

Nawazuddin starrer Sacred Games was nominated for Best Drama Series in 2019 at the International Emmys. At that time, Mcmafia won the award in the category. This year, Vir Das: For India was nominated Best Comedy and Sushmita Sen’s Disney+ Hotstar show Aarya competed in the Best Drama category, however they didn’t win any award.

Siddiqui rose to fame with the Gangs of Wasseypur film series and the Sacred Games. The actor’s next film will be Tiku Weds Sheru with Kangana Ranaut.
